The Dalbeattie Museum Trust Limited was incorporated in July 1989 with the aim of setting up a museum to record the town’s history and display a collection of items to support this.

The museum was the brainchild of Thomas (Tommy) Henderson, The Trust’s Chairman and his dream was realised when the museum first opened its doors on April 4th, 1993.

Tommy cut the ribbon to welcome more than 200 guests into the Museum  which has gone from strength to strength every since.

The Trust is responsible for operating the museum which, in 2009, Queens Award Certificate and Commemorative Crystal Ware for Voluntary Service, from  Lt. Col. Sir Malcolm Ross, GCVO OBE. 

Trust members meet throughout the year in the Church Centre, Craignair Street, Dalbeattie, starting at 7.30pm. Membership of the Trust is ÂŁ5.00 ( Concessions ÂŁ2.50) which also entitles you to free entry to the museum which is open from April until October. Opening times are Monday - Saturday 11am to 4pm.
